The name Incorrigible Author might not make sense at first, but please humor me.
These are the tenets of the Incorrigible Author, and in general, they are good Tenets to live everyday life by.
Tenet 1) Be yourself with as little compromise as possible.
Tenet 2) Speak the truth, even if it hurts.
Tenet 3) Education is the greatest gift; give freely.
Tenet 4) Stand up for what you believe in.
Tenet 5) Never back down from a challenge.
Tenet 6) Never settle for second place.
Tenet 7) Be polite; it only takes a second.
Tenet 8) Educate yourself at every opportunity.
Tenet 9) Walk your own path.
Tenet 10) Be true to yourself.
I've marched proudly for much of my life, and I’ve been quick to provide the advice I’ve collected and the views I have. I often don’t back down from speaking my mind in the bluntest method plausible, nor do I reel from a challenge. I hold people to the same high standards I hold for myself.
This means I’m frequently disappointed with the people who would assume, incorrectly, to be my peer. It is not that I am peerless, far from it. I don’t bother with such terms.
I am a person who is not easily swayed or influenced, willful, firmly fixed, and not easily changed. I can be swayed by a logical argument and have been known to admit the errors of my ways. There is no harm in admitting that you have made a mistake or using past experience to improve your position based upon what you’ve learned.
I believe in leading by example in all things and being dependable.
In flat words. I see myself as a role model for other people. And while I can be stubborn or assholish at times, there is nothing in my character that makes me feel bad about the path I walk. I want people to walk my path with me, even if it’s only to follow in my footsteps for a while before breaking away to pursue their own path.
This blog, website, and the stories that I will be sharing with the world are best accomplished in my own voice and without the constraints that would come with having an agent or a publisher demanding that I create more XYZ as opposed to ABC. This is not to say that I have given up on the dreams of being Scrooge McDuck rich like all professional authors, but I make no illusions that I was doing this for the money when I began. I am doing this to become a career, but I’ll be happy to cover my expenses and have enough scratch to set aside for retirement. I promise that if anyone ever becomes sensibly crazy and funds me to Karl Marx's level, I will happily give away anything more than I need.
I can’t promise that everyone will like my writing. If they did, I’m certain I would be fairly miserable. I hope that my writing is liked by enough people to be shared and compared against and ultimately a source of inspiration.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope you enjoy the stories I will produce and the thoughts I will encourage.
Incorrigibly yours,
J. E. Flint
